We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in the 3rd Annual Junior Mitten Games. Whether you laced up your skates, cheered from the stands, volunteered your time, or simply spread the word—you helped make a real difference. Because of your support, we raised over $4,000 for mental health awareness, with 100% of the proceeds donated to Lory’s Place in St. Joseph, MI. Your involvement brought comfort and hope to families navigating the devastating grief of suicide loss.
As we look ahead, we’re thrilled to announce the 4th Annual Junior Mitten Games, returning August 1–3, 2025. More than just a tournament, this event is a summer celebration of hockey, community, and compassion. New additions this year include a breakfast and lunch food truck, yard games on Saturday, and of course—plenty of exciting hockey. It’s the perfect weekend to reconnect with teammates, make new friends, and support a cause that matters.
This tournament is held in loving memory of Derek Klobucher, a decorated Army veteran awarded the Purple Heart and a beloved friend of AJ and Becky Glowacki. Derek was known for his bright smile, warm heart, and selfless nature. On May 27, 2018, at just 36 years old, Derek died by suicide. His passing left an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him. In his honor, we continue to raise awareness and provide support to others walking through similar loss.
All proceeds from the 2025 Junior Mitten Games will once again benefit Lory’s Place, specifically their adult and youth suicide loss support groups. These programs offer a safe space for individuals and families to grieve, connect, and heal.
Thank you for being part of something greater than the game. We hope you’ll join us this August to skate, support, and remember—for Derek, for our community, and for every life touched by loss.
Let’s make the 4th Annual Junior Mitten Games the most meaningful yet.
